Alors qu'un jour un monstre attaque une ville, le jeune Dimitri Valchek, désespéré, renonce à tout espoir et décide de se jeter dans les crocs acérés de la bête. Mais, par un incroyable coup de chance, un boulet de grue pulvérise le monstre au dernier moment. Sous les yeux ébahis de la foule, Dimitri est aussitôt acclamé comme un héros ayant sauvé la ville d'une mort certaine. Pris au dépourvu, que va faire Dimitri ?
