En 1924, à l'approche du milieu des années folles, une certaine Catherine Black est plongée dans une vision annonçant la mort de William Castle, l'héritier d'une grande entreprise familiale. Comprenant qu'il va se faire assassiner, la jeune femme décide de le protéger par tous les moyens en devenant sa secrétaire personnelle. Cat apprend alors à connaître l'entourage du jeune homme afin de pouvoir démasquer l'individu mal attentionné, et l'arrêter avant qu'il ne soit trop tard. Mais parviendra-t-elle à changer le destin d'un homme où tout est déjà écrit ?
