Danny Williams est un jeune étudiant de 18 ans, vivant en Angleterre, passionné par la culture et la langue japonaise, il va y passer ses vacances d'été. Tout va bien, jusqu'à trouver un visage familier. Car deux ans auparavant, il avait rencontré lors d'un voyage, son correspondant Japonais, Levi Yoshii. D'abord perturbé, il décide d'aller à sa rencontre, mais bien qu'au fond il s'y attendait, recevra la même réponse que deux ans auparavant, le jour où il avait du partir du Japon pour rentrer chez lui. Mais Levi s'avère présent, partout où passe Danny, au point que c'en devient une obsession.
